Other notable incidents included the recovery of a Toyota 4Runner that disappeared from a resident’s garage, the arrest of a driver with an active felony warrant, and an unconscious driver found slumped over the wheel in a damaged vehicle. February 2, 2025 – OVI on Miller Road At 7:18 AM, officers responded to the Miller Road exit ramp from I-77S for a report of an unconscious driver. Upon arrival, officers found a silver 2024 Hyundai Tucson with front-end damage and the driver slumped over and leaning against the door. The driver appeared confused with slurred speech and claimed to be dropping off a friend. After failing field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest for OVI. The driver refused breath testing and was issued citations for OVI and OVI Refusal with a court date of February 5, 2025.

February 2, 2025 – Property Damage on Chippewa Road At 2:35 PM, officers responded to 11908 Chippewa Road regarding a mailbox struck by a vehicle. Investigation revealed a delivery van driver attempting to turn left onto Cinnabar Drive slid on ice and snow, striking the mailbox. Officers observed damage to the vehicle’s front bumper and headlight. Contact information was exchanged between parties for the repair or replacement of the mailbox.

February 15, 2025 – Warrant Arrest on Riverview Road At 7:54 PM, an officer observed a white Lexus sedan on Riverview Road. A registration check revealed the owner had an active felony arrest warrant for dangerous drugs through Cleveland Police Department. After initiating a traffic stop, the driver was taken into custody. During the vehicle inventory, suspected drug paraphernalia was located in the driver’s door pocket. The vehicle was towed and the suspect was transferred to Cleveland Police custody.

February 24, 2025 – Recovered Stolen Vehicle At 7:07 AM, officers responded to a residence on Valleybrook Drive regarding a stolen vehicle. The resident reported parking his 2022 Toyota 4Runner in his garage the previous evening and discovered it missing the next morning. The vehicle’s key had been left inside the unlocked vehicle. Flock camera footage showed the vehicle traveling on Brecksville Road at 6:12 PM the previous day. Later that day, the owner contacted Toyota who located the vehicle at an address in Cleveland. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.

February 27, 2025 – High-Speed Chase/Stolen Vehicle Recovery At 2:44 PM, officers observed a silver SUV traveling 65 mph in a 35 mph zone on Brecksville Road. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled at high speed, exceeding 100 mph while weaving through traffic. The pursuit ended when the vehicle struck a median at Brecksville and Wallings Roads, disabling both the suspect vehicle and another vehicle stopped at the traffic light. The driver fled on foot but was apprehended with K9 assistance. Investigation revealed the vehicle, a 2013 Ford Escape, was stolen from a hotel in Independence. The suspect was charged with speed, operation in willful disregard of public safety, receiving stolen property, and failure to comply with an officer’s signal, with a court date of March 12, 2025.
